Email Kelly Eckols what you are looking for and your medical needs and she can make a professional suggestion. Do I need to see a doctor first?Yes. We are required by Texas state law for each patient to have a prescription from their physician in order to them. On your first visit, please bring your referring physician's prescription for physical therapy. What should I wear to physical therapy?Please wear comfortable clothing. Your attire should also allow the therapist to easily access your injured area for treatment. Workout clothes are recommended (shorts, t-shirt and tennis shoes). What can I expect during my physical therapy?During your first visit, your therapist will perform a thorough initial evaluation in which he/she will review your physician's recommendations, examine the problem area, ask you questions about your injury, develop an effective treatment plan for you, discuss his/her findings with you and answer any questions you may have. Your treatment may include hands-on therapy, a customized exercise program, stretching and physical agents (such as heat, ice, ultrasound and electrical stimulation). Your therapist may also recommend a home program to further assist in your treatment and recovery. Your treatment plan will depend upon your diagnosis and will be customized for you. How long are the appointments?How long are the appointments? How often do I need to come?The frequency of your treatment will depend upon your physician's prescription and the plan of care developed by you and your physical therapist on the initial evaluation day. Most patients require treatment two to three times per week, although any frequency could be implemented as long as it aids in your therapy progression. The duration of your treatment will depend upon your injury and your personal progress. Your physical therapist will discuss this with you following your initial exam and subsequently as you progress. Do I have to schedule appointments in advance?Yes, you will be required to schedule your appointments in advance. We schedule all visits by appointment only on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are unable to attend an appointment, we appreciate at least 24 hours notice. Some appointment times incur a cancellation fee if not given with 24 hours notice, please ask your therapist about the details. How much does physical therapy cost?Your portion of payment is determined by the benefits of your insurance plan, including deductible, co-pay or co-insurance. Your portion of the charges will be due at the time of service. To determine your responsibility contact your insurance company or the clinic you plan to attend - we will be happy to check with your insurance company to determine the terms of your coverage. Will you bill my insurance?Yes. We are in network with several insurance companies. To determine if we accept the insurance plan you are on, see our list of accepted insurance plans or contact the clinic you plan to attend. Before your first visit we will verify coverage and benefits with your insurance company. As a courtesy to you, we will also file your insurance claims on your behalf. What is required of a physical therapist?All physical therapists are graduates from accredited, university-level physical therapy programs, have passed the National Physical Therapist Examination and are licensed by the state board of physical therapy. Therapists are also required by the state board to maintain and increase their level of education through continuing education courses. Most physical therapists have earned a Masters Degree in physical therapy. By 2020 all PT Schools are required to be Doctoral degree programs. Most Texas PT schools have already transitioned their programs to be Doctoral level programs which is a minimum 24 months after earning a Bachelor's degree. |
